Dr Jun Cheong - Consultant Cardiologist

Dr. Jun Cheong is an expert Consultant Cardiologist with over two decades of experience delivering high-quality cardiovascular care within the NHS. Renowned for clinical excellence and leadership, he is currently the Cardiac Imaging Lead and Clinical Director, with extensive expertise spanning advanced cardiac imaging, service development, and system-level improvement.
In addition to his senior NHS roles, Dr Cheong serves as the Secretary of State for Transport’s Honorary Medical Adviser, providing specialist clinical advice at a national level. This role reflects his standing as a trusted authority in cardiovascular medicine and his ability to operate at the interface of clinical practice, governance, and public policy.
His training spans top UK centres and international programmes, giving him the skills to provide accurate, patient-focused diagnostic advice. He completed his medical training and graduated with an MBChB (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) from Edinburgh University in 2004.
He underwent comprehensive training with renowned university teaching hospitals such as Addenbrooke's Hospital Cambridge, Royal Papworth Hospital, and Essex Cardiothoracic Centre, and completed his fellowship at Royal Brompton Hospital in London. During this time, he completed his post-graduate examinations with the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) and the European Exam of Core Cardiology. He has also completed the Management and Leadership Development Programme with Judge Business School, University of Cambridge. As a mark of excellence for physicians, Dr Cheong has been elected to the fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP).
